Dream Team Fundraising Dinner March 19th-6:00PM

Jan 21, 2009

You are invited to attend the Dream Team Annual Fundraising Dinner and 10th anniversary celebration on Thursday, March  19th at 6:00pm. The dinner will be held at the Lithuanian House at 1573 Bloor Street West, a block west of the Dundas West subway.

The Dream Team is a group of 23 mental health  consumers and family members who, for the last ten years, have advocated for more supportive housing for people living with mental health issues in Ontario.  From modest beginnings, we have grown to form collaborations with partners such as the University of Toronto, HomeComing, the Wellesley Institute and the Advocacy Centre for Tenants of Ontario-ACTO. We have been recognized in the Queen's Park Legislature and received numerous awards, including ONPHA's Tenant Achievement Award. Our "We Are Neighbours" study has been very well received by the academic and non-profit housing communities. We are thrilled that communities around Ontario continue to request our workshops and presentations. The achievements of the Dream Team and the support offered by our community are ongoing sources of hope that safe, secure, affordable supportive housing will one day be available for those who need it most.

The evening will celebrate the leaps and bounds made by our innovative group of speakers and educators who continue to share personal stories in order to dispel the stigma of mental illness and to educate diverse audiences about the benefits of supportive housing.

Tickets are $30.00.

To reserve a ticket/table please contact our outreach coordinator, Lindsay Kochen, at 416.5126.1422 ext 250 or outreach@thedreamteam.ca. Cheques should be made out to "The Dream Team c/o Houselink" and can be mailed to 1678 Bloor Street West (2nd floor), Toronto, M6P 1A9. It is also possible to pay by credit card over the phone.
