Sa’ad Talia

Sa’ad’s journey with mental health challenges began as a result of multiple addictions. He was precariously housed and moved into supportive housing in 2009. He lived in housing administered by Habitat for six years before moving into independent living in 2015. His current housing is part of the Regeneration House & Habitat Housing‘s collaborative project in north-west Toronto. Sa’ad chairs the Advocacy committee of the Dream Team and sits on their executive committee. He is also a member of the Toronto Alliance to End Homelessness as a supporter and sits on the PWLE (People With Lived Experience) caucus. Previously, Sa’ad was an educator, a businessman and an office manager and devoted much of his time to women’s and children’s rights’ NGOs. He has volunteered at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST) and the United Way. Sa’ad is a trained Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) II facilitator, a Peer Counselor and a Crisis Interventionist.
